Oppression ~ Has claimed our entire Lives,
You have enslaved us — burnt us alive
Skinned our bodies — sold as purses,
Stolen our babies — raped our women!
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
Yes ~ We express Rage!
Taken from our mothers’ breast
Sold for $2000.00 — to a violent man
We worked your fields
Slaved over your floors and tables
We were beaten bloody
Our body and skin shredded
If we did not bow, you boiled us alive!
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
Empathy ~ Yes, these events were long ago,
Or are they?
We experience those fears each moment of everyday
Shot in the back — beaten to the ground
Why! Do you not understand,
We are the same as you!
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
Compassion ~ At times you gave us food
A dirt floor shack to live in-
Sometimes we might be educated
To serve you hand and mouth
Later — if Freed — emancipate you said,
Only to be stop by a cop — cuz we got a Chill Car
Did you tell us — my success would be considered a crime,
In your mind!
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
Some have stood and fought by us
We call in the crimes and still you are blinded.
My father had gone missing — where? we are not told
Graciousness ~ My Grandma warned us –
Life was slowly changing, not for us — possibly our grandchildren.
We had to prove ourselves — for your Misdeeds and Guilt!
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
I wear a hoodie as a kid staying warm — shot in the back!
Do you understand — I am just like you
Will you be Gracious and allow me a life?
Can you muster up some Compassion!
Understand — I am as you!
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
Yes — we have Rage from being Oppressed
Punched in the gut for standing by a store
Beaten till my neck broke — why?
It’s time we all Let Go
Of Hatred
Care about each other
We are human — no differences
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
Before we begin to kill for no reason –
Except our guile — judgements and ignorance
Find Empathy in your stone cold fearing Hearts.
Let Go — be humane — see me as I am — I am like you!
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
I state I am Sorry!
For all the ruthless persecution and violence —
Slavery that should never have been — stolen from your country, Africa!
Families ripped apart — tossed into the ocean — a burden if we are sick,
Hatred from unknown origin. It was Greed — easy money!
No Child — No African, no person of Colour
Ought to feel that Tyranny— nor Fear each day
Because of their beautiful Skin!
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
This was an abomination more than centuries old!
Why does this continue in our educated world?
Educated? – Tells more of greedful acrimony!
Africa has been raped by white men, the soil is stolen
Yet Africans are not paid- stolen by Europeans.
No animal is worse than a rapacious Human.
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
Raped our women, left alone raising children
Struggling on welfare pittance , blamed— dismissed as besmirch
Black children fear daily, never commited a crime.
Not believing they will see their teens, only image — being Shot!
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
I am Sorry for my forefathers miss-deads!
They are the culprits, and we are shamed for their barbarism.
It is our obligation to change, Now!
Listen to the anger — protests — tell us how we can change!
Do not riot and hurt your people,
You are not as those who enslaved your grandfathers
Or killed your brother!
Come — take our hand and together we will….BREATHE
Give us FREEDOM — Let Us BREATHE
Black Lives DO Matters
I am speaking out against Racism & Bigotry!!
When a segment of our population is slaughtered
Rendered to Genocide – we are all to blame!
Our disposition and perceptions
Fall from Integrity to shaming and judgement
Of ALL Humanity!
Breathe deeply !
The Breath, Is Life in itself;
to our entire body and brain.
Breathing is natural and a given right to everyone!
