It’s Labour Day! For Whom?

Reading on LI this morning, many mentioning Labour Day. It did not seem like a holiday. What read was, Honour!

I went to a popular grocery store, I was almost out of fresh food. Many were shopping. There was a bit of a frenzy in the air, this befuddled me, for Labour Day was forgotten. It was, buy this, don’t forget that, congestion with baskets, a bit Harried. What was going on, this did not connect.

Its Labour Day! And for many this has lost it’s meaning. It’s a holiday for them, not to work, have a barbecue, invite people, and have the day off.

There are so many people who do not have jobs; homeless in dire straits, this is not a holiday! They wish and pine away for work and income, many wish for a home. This is not a shopping or big sale day, its find work, find a home, Survive.

The meaning of Labour Day:

“A public holiday or day of festivities held in honour of working people, in the US and Canada on the first Monday in September.”

Held in Honour of Working People, all People! Please honour this ideal!
