I never felt safe,

Never felt loved,

And never ran around in joy, it was harsh, yet it was all I knew.

I was a child and watched with careful wide eyes.

All of life is not this way, I see other children smiling in other world pictures,

why not I?

My dog I hold fast, my dog may feel the same as I

We are both hungry, where is there plenty?

The bombs crash – they are frightening

Must we flee again to another place and no home?

Please stop the hate, we do not know those who war against us,

We are simple people living life and one day life was not allowed

Why? Why do you hate us? What have we done?

Besides live in our country peacefully.

Was it the peace you could not tolerate?

Or was it our way of life, our children or something we said.

Let us live in our country, on our land growing food for me and others.

Why must you destroy life?

Please allow my dog to live happily with me so we may play.

I think I forgot what play was.

I have an empty stomach and it hurts;

Yet I am told we must leave again for another safe place –

Where was the last safe place?

I only remember a home once, it was small, we lived loving each other..

What was it about our lives you hated?

Are you done destroying life in this world,

Or is your heart so filled with anger ~ others must pay for your loathing

Of who do you wish to repay you?

Will you stop then, destroying lives?

If we run and hide will you stop?

When will you allow life, not as you see it, but the way we once lived!

I wish to run outside and play with my dog, he shakes with fear..

I am scared also – what did I do wrong to make you hate so much?

We simply wish to live as others, play outside and have some food to eat.

Were we asking too much, we grew our own food, we worked our jobs

And I found my dog, I take good care of him, please I wish not to see him shake from fear.

Please allow us peace, peace to live, peace to be with my family,

They lost me and my dog…..

Where I do not know… I am only a child

Were we not all born from each mother and father?

What about is so different you must hurt and kill us?

Please tell us so we may change!

We only wish for peace,

Peace to live life,

Peace to love one another,

Peace to watch the clear skies…

And floating clouds,

Grow our food,

Give thanks to everyone….

We have one life to live,

Please for my dog and I as a child, lost and afraid,

Allow us a life of peace!
